Yummy Ruffles

I am one step closer to "finishing" my master bedroom makeover. Whew! It sure has taken a long time- and I am still not done. The project has taken on a life of it's own. I started with a very specific look in mind......and it has morphed into something almost entirely different. But I am loving it!

I have been on the search for curtains for the master bedroom. As you remember from my last post, I had several beautiful, vintage panels that I loved and wanted to use. Unfortunately, the thermal lining was a mess and after putting many hours and many failed attempts at pulling that lining off.......I gave up. I.do.not.have.the.time. Nope. So I moved on.

I had in my mind what I wanted for the windows but had a hard time finding it. Do you do that? Get something specific in your head as to what you want and then nothing else will do? I am that way. After searching high and low with nothing matching what I had envisioned I decided I would just make my own curtains!!!

Here they are in all of their finished, yummy glory...

Oh! I am so happy with how they turned out!

They are exactly what I had hoped and more.

I love that they give us privacy but still look wispy and light when the sun shines through them.

I did not have a pattern. I guess you could say it's a Heather Original. Hah! I just thought out how I was going to make them and really took my time. Lots and lots of time. I have about 8 hours in these babies, and some of that time was spent figuring out the process. I have to work around kids nap schedules and other stuff so it wasn't like I got to just sit and sew straight through from start to finish. I think that actually added to the excitement. It was like getting to a good part of a great novel and then having to put it down for a bit. Anticipation!!!

The time spent was so well worth it. I adore my new curtains. I keep looking at them and I smile every time. I love waking up in the morning to see the sun streaming through them and how the ruffles seem to make the light bounce across the room. I love watching the breeze gently blow the curtains in a way that reminds me of my mother's and grandmother's curtains growing up. And they look amazing with the "look" that I am trying to accomplish in our room.

***GRAND OPENING!!!***

It's official!!! My sister, Melanie, and I just opened our Etsy store!! Although it was much more work than I had anticipated it was well worth it to see the merchandise in our little online store! Melanie and I have been kicking the idea around for awhile now and finally made the decision to go for it. It will provide a nice outlet for creativity and, hopefully, bring in some extra income!!

The shop is called 2sisters1love and I think it is a perfect reflection of us. Two sisters that share the same love.........for all things crafty! In the shop we will be selling crafts, clothing, jewelry, children and baby items, children's games (educational included), home decor and accessories, Melanie's photography, handbags and totes, seasonal items, occasional vintage treasures and so much more!!!

We don't have everything listed in our store yet but we are getting there. Right now is just a small sampling of what our store will be and we will be adding more items regularly for maximum variety!

Bragging Rights- My Talented Family

I cherish every member of my family. We have always been very close knit. Every holiday and birthday is a huge celebration in which we all get together and celebrate with good fun and good food. Every person in my family has their own special talent. I am sure this is common in most every family- but I am proud of every one in our family. Some are talented in construction and carpentry, some are talented in art and sewing, some have special talents in decorating and painting, fixing cars, singing and playing an instrument- you name it- The LORD has blessed each and every one of them with a special gift.Today I want to introduce you to two of the most talented family members I have. My Uncle Dick is at every family get together with his camera attached to his hand. It's been so long since I have seen him without his camera that I am beginning to wonder if he hasn't had it surgically attached to his hand! He is the most amazing photographer that I know. He captures moments that most of us don't even think about taking a picture of. In fact, when we get pictures of a family get together afterwards we usually sit there saying "I didn't see that happen!" Uncle Dick has an eye for photography. It is like he has the ability to look through that lens and see things most people would not. He captures moments and beauty that most of us take for granted. He is also very talented in "fixing" pictures. He has taken so many old family pictures that may have been out of focus, torn or tattered and repaired them to like new. He is preserving and documenting our family history from decades ago, and for decades to come.My Aunt Debbie is a soul like no other. She has a spirit to her that makes you joyful just being around her. She has such a love for, and a strong belief in , God that makes you strive to be a better Christian yourself. As a child I remember being at her house playing with my cousins and she would just be working in the house or in her garden and humming away- she is always humming. She is a good, honest woman that will tell you like it is- and I adore that about her. Debbie, literally, has talent oozing from her fingertips........ there is nothing this woman doesn't touch that ends up looking anything but beautiful. She sews, she quilts, she knits, she paints, she decorates, she crafts- She amazes me. She can take scraps of fabric and turn them into beautiful pieces of art. Recently Dick and Deb have opened up an online Etsy store called FRUIT OF MY HANDS . It is full of their handmade items and photography. Dick now makes greeting cards from his pictures and they sell them in their store as well. So, there you have it! I just had to brag. I was thrilled when I found out they were starting their own shop because they have so much talent and create such beautiful things that I am glad they are finally getting them out there to share!
